FAQ

General Questions:

Due to customized and recompiled mods, as well as the custom records, and my custom Updater Utility, distribution trough third party programs would be difficult.
This website has in large part been set up to allow for easier distribution, and I hope that it, together with my Updater, should make the experience of playing the pack rather painless.

The updating utility was conceived as a more comfortable way of updating the pack while not using something like modrinth.
By using the updater instead of reinstalling the pack manually every update, the end user no longer has to juggle multiple installs, nor do they have to change their graphics settings and keybinds (if tweaked) every time the pack updates.
This is especially important as the core mod (HBM’s Nuclear Tech Mod) updates very frequently, and I try to keep the pack as up to date with it as possible.

That is an excellent question, especially since Minecraft 1.7.10 was released 12 years 3 months 21 days ago at this point.

The reason Uranium Fever has been built on top of this arcane version is quite simple: HBM’s Nuclear Tech Mod is built for 1.7.10.

Now, there are numerous unofficial forks of HBM’s NTM, most of them porting it to 1.12.2, a version which is still ancient, but still significantly more modern engine and game-play wise, and offers much more in the way of customization when it comes to making modpacks.

And while I would love to use such a version, staying on 1.7.10 means there is zero delay between the main mod receiving updates and being able to add those features to the pack, as well as the official mod being “survival ready”, which is uncommon for the forks.

Furthermore, at the time I started developing the modpack (2023), the few available forks were heavily behind the main mods in terms of content, and also seemed to be no longer updated.

Meanwhile, the 1.7.10 version is still updated every few weeks or so, with the space fork often achieving parity within a few hours.
Hence the decision to stay on 1.7.10.

A lot of effort has been put into making this older version as painless to play to as possible, with many things (such as shaders, for example) being made possible by the gloriously insane people behind GregTech: New Horizons, which I highly recommend.

All in all I believe that playing on 1.7.10 (and going trough the painful development process of developing the modpack for such an old version) is worth it for the experience HBM’s Nuclear Tech Mod provides.

Every mod I’ve added I’ve added for a reason, and with the wide spread of different reasons it’s hard to give a single answer.

If you wish to give feedback, or just want to know “why”, feel free to reach out.

Much like when deciding what mods to add, a lot of effort has gone into not adding mods that conflict or bloat the pack, as well as continually trimming the pack of mods no longer needed or otherwise unused.

If the mod is very popular but not included, there is most likely a reason for it.

If you want to suggest an addition, or just want to know why certain mods were not included, feel free to contact me.

Welcome to Uranium Fever!

If the reactor itself was in a nominal and stable state before it exploded, please ensure you Chunkloaded your reactor.

If your reactor is of a safe design, and was already chunkloaded when it melted down, then it is most likely a bug.
These are sadly inevitable when trying to bring the wonderful and complex world of Nuclear Engineering into a version of Minecraft more than a decade old.

If this keeps happening, try to prevent leaving your reactor running unattended, as they dislike being alone.

And accidents happen, don’t be afraid to rebuild, and to rebuild bigger and better.

Maybe! If I think it fits the theme or just really enjoy the song, I can consider it for inclusion.

Feel free to shoot me a suggestion here.

The title font is called ACME, which only seemed appropriate.

The main body text font is IBM Plex Mono.

OCR-A has also been used for certain text elements to better distinguish them.

Technical Support:

That is most unfortunate!
If you did not install the pack using the provided instructions, please try to do this first, as this is the only officially supported method.
If problems still persist, please do not hesitate to contact me for further support.

I’m sorry to hear that!
A lot of work has gone into making the pack as performant as possible on my end, but if you’re still struggling with frame-rates here are some tweaks you can make to lower the graphics.

Try disabling Better Foliage (added in V12) by pressing F8 and setting “Enable mod” to “false”

In the Minecraft video settings, you can also reduce the Render Distance (found under “General”), set the Graphics to “Fast” (found under “Quality”), and reduce or disable Dynamic Lights (found under “Dynamic Lights”)

This happens when you try to join the server with a different set of mods than the server is expecting.
Usually a Pack Update should fix this.
And if you’ve added any client side mods yourself, please try removing them.

If you really want to use a certain client side mod, and feel it doesn’t negatively affect other players, feel free to contact me and I can look into adding an exception.

While Version 12 includes shaders out of the box, they are not officially supported by me nor most of the mods in the pack, and are therefore used at your own risk.

There are many tweaks made to the rendering to make things such as planets or animated firearms work, and shaders inherently make a lot of further fundamental tweaks to how Minecraft renders things.
There is very little I can do when things break.

If you’ve found a bug, or are otherwise inconvenienced by technical issues, let me know here.

I will do whatever is within my power to help resolve it.
